Now, of course, the British have got what they wanted

Victor Davis Hanson offers two explanations for British whining about Obama: "One is embarrassment, and the second a sort of fear."

... given the nature of American therapeutic education, the triumph of multiculturalism, and our own radically changing demography, if Barack Obama did not exist, one would have to invent him. What is strange, then, is not Obama’s innate distrust of Britain, but the current surprise in Britain that someone like him is indifferent to what Britain stands for, past and present.

Think Americans are indifferent to the mother country? Try growing up as an Englishman in Canada. The difference between the racism I experienced and the racism you usually read about is the racism I experienced was and remains state sanctioned. So far as Canada's Establishment is concerned, Obama is a better Canadian than I am. They could very well be right about that, too.

Etc.: The most unpopular man in Britain.

It’s hard to believe that any politician could become more disliked in the UK than Gordon Brown, but Barack Obama is achieving that in spades.

Racist!

PS - You will note Nile Gardiner still believes BP is British.
