Invincible ignorance

A society of free men must be educated if it is to be free, a society of slaves cannot be educated if they are to remain slaves. What the admirably named William B. Fankboner says of education and Islam I am delighted to say of education and the Frankfurt School, for all there were too many smart Jews involved in the latter. The calculated illiteracy of the Western world is no accident but a slaughterhouse chute for liberty.

If the number of Nobel laureates is any measure—Islam, 20% of the world’s population, has produced 6, while the Jewish community, a tiny minority of 0.2%, has produced 165—intellectual curiosity is not a highly rated virtue in the Koran; “Islam” is a Syriac word meaning submission, which is the surrender of the mind to faith, i.e., the abdication of free conscience and independent thought to the teachings of the Prophet. Most so-called “educated” jihadists, those who see themselves as symbolic emissaries of Islam and are fully convinced of the rectitude of their cause, suffer from a cognitive disorder Thomas Aquinas called “invincible ignorance.” The best (or worst) you can say of graduates of the madrasahs is that their knowledge of history and world affairs is roughly equivalent to that of an average American fourth-grader. In no other culture, society, or religion is the pursuit of knowledge viewed with such virulent contempt and ignorance of the world considered evidence of virtue.

I cannot be alone in finding the value system and worldview of the average American fourth-grader at work in an electorate prepared to make Barack Obama President of the United States, an instance of reasoning with "the intellectual sophistication of a superstitious children" if there ever was one. We are three generations into the infantilization of the West. At this rate, there won't be a fifth generation to indoctrinate.

Fankboner suggests outlawing political debate, a media saturated with anti-Western slogans and propogating hate speech in education are all strategies used to maintain politcal power and prop up incompetent tyrannies. These strategies are by no means limited to the third world but have been imported in the form of the Left's long march through the institutions. Criminalize freedom of speech, chant anti-Western slogans and celebrate a variety of Two Minute Hates: Fankboner isn't only describing the Muslim world, he is describing every university campus in the West (and Obama is their prophet).

Eureka: A year and a half late but Jay Nordlinger has belatedly noticed something.

Do you ever get the idea that our government is a bunch of left-wing undergraduates come to power?
