The real opposition
Lord Pearson of Rannoch has been elected leader of UKIP (via Five Feet of Fury).
A UKIP source said that if Lord Pearson or Mr Batten were elected “You are going to see quite a lot stronger position from us. Nigel has always been afraid of the Islam thing backfiring. But the BNP are taking ownership of issues that have not been addressed by Labour, the Conservatives or the Lib Dems and they need addressing.”
Related: Exit polls suggest the Swiss are going to ban minarets. Also related, I thought it was difficult to get into Switzerland.
Switzerland, a nation of 7.5 million people, has an uneasy relationship with its Muslim minority of around 400,000. Islam is its second largest religion after Christianity.
