Balls

Chaucerian caricature Ed Balls belatedly notes the rise of the "far right". To blame: the legitimate economic grievances of British prols.

Ed Balls, the Children's and Schools Secretary, said the downturn was likely to be the most serious for 100 years, and his comments appeared to raise the prospect of a return to the Far Right politics of the 1930s and the rise of Facism.

His warning, in a speech to activists at the weekend, came after a trade union baron warned that far right parties were trying to hijack the campaign for "British jobs for British workers".

The row over foreign workers has gathered momentum in recent weeks and Mr Balls seemed to suggest the recession could trigger a return to the Far Right politics that prospered in the Great Depression of the 1930s

I have some better indicators of the resurgence of fascism thought under Ingsoc:

i - Fascists calling for death to their political opponents.
ii - Said fascists making said calls in central London in broad daylight.
iii - Police services protecting said fascists and threatening anyone who complains with arrest.
iv - State censorship of opinions opposing said fascists.
v - Criminal and extra-judicial "human rights" charges levelled at anyone publishing in opposition to said fascists.
vi - Demonization of political opponents through witchcraft accusations ("racism" being by far the most common accusation of witchcraft.)
vii - Resurgent anti-Semitism thinly disguised as anti-Zionism.
viii - Approval and dissemination of said resurgent anti-Semitism by the state broadcaster and various "leftist" and "conservative" news organizations.
ix - Indoctrination of children and college age students by fascists and fascist apologists.
x - Massive sales of arms, engineering and financial services to fascist regimes, particularly those regimes offering sales of energy to Western Europe.

I could go on. And don't get me started on CCTV.
