Moyers has a self-belief that his views are based upon a sort of science. For him it seems that "our" responses to stimulus have more to do with the amygdala and the uptake of certain chemicals in response to those stimuli.

His is a pleasure/pain world. We choose to do that which gives us pleasure. We avoid that which causes us pain. This view gives rise to the opinion that those of us who withhold immediate pleasure to gain greater pleasure down the road (deferred reward) gain a certain perverse pleasure from such deferral.

As such a thinker, he is unencumbered by the dilemma of ethics and morality. Neither are important, since they aren't the true motivators of action or inaction. There can be no moral equivalance since morality itself cannot be a factor that determines activity. It can only be used to mask our decisions.
