Fuck you, lawyers!

Kathy Shaidle: The real voice of the working class.

As lawyers take over the internet, only a certain level of discourse is deemed acceptable. People like me, from lower class backgrounds, where blunt talk about the obvious, undeniable differences between ethnic groups is commonplace, are increasingly pressured to adopt a phony baloney way of writing in order to be considered acceptable.

This is true on the right as well as the left. Too many Canadian "conservative" bloggers are aspirational little careerist party hacks, eager to join the elites and adopt their Trudeaupian worldview. Their boring "on the one hand, on the other hand" is sucking the life out of this place.

Exactly. And the first thing they learn is how to say "on the one hand, on the other hand" in French. The second is to enforce laws making it a crime to state the obvious. I am looking at you, Stephen Harper.

You know, plenty of us lawyers don't exactly come from white-bread backgrounds. It's always so easy to blame the lawyers.

That generalization aside, why bother pretending to adopt a certain manner of writing... it sounds a bit paranoid.

So, if she had a law degree she could go right ahead and publish a pop culture/gossip blog under her own name, right? It's not as if anyone in the legal profession would be all Judgy McJudge.

I think lawyers get the blame for what is already prevalent throughout society. People forget that for every "bad" lawyer, there's a "good" one on the other side of any given issue.

Many professions lend bloggers towards anonymity or use of pen names for any reason.

Diablo Cody uses one. In a way, so do you. ;)
