The Atlantic Monthly: Neither honour nor courage.

Yet more sleazy propaganda from the once reputable Atlantic Monthly as it manipulates a cover image of Senator John McCain.

As far as it goes it is workmanlike enough and presents McCain, unlike the Obama covers we are used to seeing, without the halo. Given the level to which the owner and the staff of the Atlantic are in the tank for Obama -- the owner's wife, Katherine Brittain Bradley, is on record in one instance for $28,500.00 to committees supporting Barack Obama-- even the cover-lines are not half-bad if a bit half-hearted. I'd only remark that it is no accident that the Atlantic's editor approved the upper red slash bar with the words "Porn" and "Adultery" in it. Editors, especially those whose paycheck depends on displaying their bias for their boss, love those little gotcha games. I know. I played them too.

But that's not where the Atlantic cover story stops.

The first link above leads to an introduction at Ace of Spades HQ, the second to the full horror explained by American Digest (from whence the quote). Read the whole story. Blood-pressure warning in effect.

An excellent point: Quoted at Instapundit.

Barry Dauphin thinks it's psychological: "One thing I have noticed. No matter who McCain is up against (be it Republicans or Democrats), he has an uncanny ability to get under the skin of his opponents. Most of his opponents become virtually apoplectic at some point. They make mistakes. And he simply smiles."

Andrew Sullivan is now bragging how high his Technorati ranking is. I wonder if he realizes it's not because he's popular. Rather, he's getting linkage because he has become a raving frothy-mouthed spectacle of a lunatic.

Sully is the Internet equivalent of a carnival barker promising shocking and exciting things only to disappoint once you walk in to his madhouse tent.

He's gone straight from BDS to PMS (Palin Madness Syndrome)

Given the publishers' political leanings, it seems clear they chose Sullivan for his. While I believe his recent behaviour has probably embarrassed the owners, I think this is due mainly to the attention he has drawn for the style of his ranting rather than for its content. I hope they all pay a steep price for spouting the evil nonsense they so evidently believe to be true or, at the least, justified provided it works toward their ends: A Marxist President.
