The West's mortal enemy
Described by a Canadian federal prosecutor as a "quartermaster of terror", Momin Khawaja has by his (alleged) actions done his level best to bring Muslims into hatred and contempt as a bearer of a demonic message of war and horror. His (alleged) actions speak louder but we should also take him at his word.
In a blistering rebuttal to a defence motion asking the trial judge to quash all seven terrorism charges against Khawaja, McKercher said Justice Douglas Rutherford should take Khawaja's self-description as "the West's mortal enemy" in literal terms.
From the sanctuary provided for him in Ottawa, my hometown, Khawaja tried to murder young men and women on the streets of London, my Jerusalem. Yet he is entitled to the full benefit of the law; legal counsel should he be unable to afford it, protection from double-jeopardy and -- even should he be convicted -- to believe as he will and to practice his religion as he will (excepting his duty to make war on the rest of us). More than the law provides for the rights of Mark Steyn, Ezra Levant and all the rest.
