Half a league, half a league, half a league onward

Ukraine fears it may be the next on the list of Russian interests in the near abroad.

"When Ukraine prioritises its national interests, it goes against Russia's interests and, of course, there will be conflict," said Viktor Chumak, an analyst for Ukraine's International Centre for Policy Studies.

"And Russia has broken through a psychological barrier to start this kind of war on former Soviet territory... Georgia had created itself in the shape of an enemy of Russia, and many in Russia already see us in the same way... We probably rank third in the list of Russia's leading enemies."

And by a strange coincidence, "activists" are protesting for Russia to revoke its friendship agreement with Ukraine and take Crimea. They should have no difficulty arranging for sympathetic puppet heads to appear on the streets of Toronto. The last time the West stood up to pan-Slavic nationalism, protesters firebombed the United States consulate.

They are not anti-war. They are pro-fascist.

Updating as time permits:

* U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski celebrated the signing of a missile shield deal this week with Georgian wine. And that, my friends, is more like it. More, please.
