To do what is right even when it is dangerous to do so
Spengler comments on the Pope, the President and the politics of faith, arguing it is "not only faith, but the temerity to act upon faith" that unites these men. Most interesting to me is the question: Why should Muslims fear Benedict?
An excellent point, and not only pertinent to Benedict's mustard seed. Imagine tens of millions of new Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, southern Baptists and all the rest. And all of them with friends and family back home who could also benefit from hearing the Word. Islam appears to be strong behind its walls of gender apartheid and tribal law and the killing stroke for apostasy, not to mention its trillions in unearned oil wealth. But when all this can be brought low - reduced to an impotent, incoherent temper tantrum - by a cartoon in a Danish newspaper it may be Western "hate" laws that are Islam's last, best defense against sweet reason.

"it also puts large numbers of Muslims within reach of Christian missionaries for the first time in history."
If only it were safe to enter their neighbourhoods in many European cities.

True. But a big step up from trying to spread the good news in "Saudi" Arabia. Or ancient Rome for that matter.
