Hitchens 1 : Truther 0

We need much more of this.* An important part of our current cognitive dissonance is a media adhering to a fatuous notion of objectivity. They believe it is somehow objective to produce an opposing opinion - no matter how deranged - to any given point of view. This is part and parcel of a postmodernism and a left ceded to a relativism that Marx himself opposed with every word he ever wrote.

Try telling people today that Osama bin Laden was not a CIA agent and you will hear a high pitched whine in reply: "But how do you know?" All oblivious to the notion it is their claim which needs to be supported and not my job to refute every evil thought-fart wafted in my direction. Not all opinions are valid and not all opinions deserve an airing on the floor. I was in Kensington Market in downtown Toronto where I was exposed to a (National) Socialist Worker vendor peddling conspiracy theories to the soft-headed. It took a great deal of restraint to leave that sorry spectacle in progress. I imagine many reasonable Germans felt the same way passing crackpot Brown Shirts in the '20s. They lived to regret it. We shall too.

* Though I should note Hitchens does not quite answer the question as to why it took the most religious country in the West to recognize the danger we now face. The answer, of course, is it takes a believer both to recognize the enemy's proclamations of faith to be evil and to be sincere. Our elites protest these doctors and engineers and sons of billionaires are impoverished and marginalized even as the butcher's knife is drawn across their throats.
