Australia's second greatest gift to an undeserving world

The Flea was delighted by news of the (re)marriage of Nicole Kidman, Australia's second greatest contributor to contemporary popular culture. She looked lovely, seems happy and perhaps above all has finally had a proper wedding in this her sort of second marriage. I was left with one question, however: How did Australia's second most important cultural export manage to re-marry in a Catholic church? The BBC claims there was no need for an annulment.
The original wedding was performed in the Church of Scientology and wasn't recognised by the Catholic faith.
And quite right too. Though critics of same-sex marriage might best remember the Catholic Church may have the same opinion of your wedding vows. No word on what Australian or Californian tax-payers - particularly gay tax-payers - might think of Father Coleman's sophistry when they have been asked to subsidize the Cruise/Kidman marriage for ten years.

I still think we need a Flea-based belief system for these sorts of situations. Remember - high priest robes are a real goth opportunity.

You are the second person in two days to suggest I found a cult. All I can say is: Don't get me started!

Call not the gods to battle, for they may answer.

Methinks that Kidman's income bracket meant she paid enough taxes to forgive said subsidization. Besides, the marraige was recognized legally, if I'm not mistaken, no?

It's not a cult, it's a church. Unless of course you have a cheese-wielding cult in mind with you as omnipotent leader. Then it would be a cult.
Mike and I await your instructions.

Agent Bedhead: The point I am circling around is precisely that Kidman's first marriage was recognized legally but when it comes to the religious angle - the angle that supposedly motivates most of the opposition to same-sex marriage (if not from Kidman herself, I have no idea what she thinks on the subject) - it is possible to be married by a UFO cult and then have that ten year marriage ignored entirely by the 2000 year old version of the same thing (speaking from a Flying Spaghetti Monster perspective, at least).
Alan: Cult? Church? As long as involves booze, wenches and cash I am not complaining.*
*Church of the Flea retains the right to complain.

Someday, she's going to tell her story of her experience with the Scientology loons.
It will be fascinating.
Wonder if she called Katie to warn her..........

I wish you and I had gone out birding Flea. We certainly don't agree on women. Nicole Kidman? I don't see the fuss...she certainly ain't attractive. (Like the outfit.) Course neither is Posh Beckham.

I would walk over hot coals for Nicole Kidman. Metaphorically, I think.

No, pretty much literally.
