The burning times

Saudi religious police have reportedly decided to step up their witch hunt. Just so we are perfectly clear: These are the same people the Canadian establishment has sided with against some Danish cartoonists. Cartoons being offensive while terminating witches is of insufficient interest to merit comment from our great and good.

The Authority for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice is setting up special centers in all cities to "register complaints on sorcerers and charlatans, track them and terminate them," the authority's chief Sheikh Ibrahim bin Abdallah al-Ghaith told al-Madinah newspaper.

Islam forbids magic and practicing it is considered blasphemy.

This is reported in Reuters "Oddly Enough" news section. Because a modern state murdering people for casting horoscopes is, like, weird and not, say, monstrous.

Anywhere one can find out what the APVPV considers included in "charlatan"? Presbyterians perhaps?

I imagine it includes the beliefs of any Muslim who thinks the Arabian government should be elected and representative. Particularly included are any women who might imagine their votes would be included in such an hypothetical process.

Failing that, anyone newspaper printing an astrology column. Sucks to be you, Now Magazine!

Hmmm, that would appear to point a dagger at the heart of my faerie folk ancestry. Perhaps the flag might be brought out one day in this cause.
