Mr. Blair
Anything I might have to say as a Canadian is so much noise from the cheap seats. So what I have to say I do as a citizen of the UK and direct this question to my Prime Minister, a man for whose government I have twice voted.
Mr. Blair: when are we going to stop pissing about and kill these bastards?

I understand the desire to force Blair to talk straight, but what is it exactly that gets your goat today?

soflee, soflee, catchee monkey --
We (Americans and Brits, along with the other coalition members) won't kill the bastards. Iraqis will kill the bastards, and we'll hold their coats, cheer, and keep the raff off so's they aren't distracted.
Anything else is imperialism. "Government" is an organization that creates and maintains for itself (or tries to) a monopoly on the use of force or violence to compel behavior. Any organization that provides security is, de facto, the government. We don't want to become the government of Iraq or of any part of it; we want to build a real, working government in Iraq. Therefore this to-ing and fro-ing, and in the background Iraqis are being trained in how to go about it. When they're ready they'll take the ball. In the meantime we have to grit our teeth.
It's a long shot, but the only one with a chance of accomplishing anything other than joining the round of revenge or inviting the Mad Mullahs in. And if it works, it's gonna be soooooo satisfying...
