Canadian Ally

Colby Cosh explains the Canadian election to Americans (before yesterday's vote). A central point is an introduction to Mr. Stephen Harper, leader of Canada's new Conservative Party.

Mostly, what you'll notice -- if things go Harper's way in the end -- is that Canada will have gained a leader who talks the shared Anglo-Saxon language of trade, individual liberty, and military might. You will, I think, find him to be someone who "gets it." His election would bring Canada back from the fringes of the "Anglosphere" to somewhere near its heart.

Along the way, he mentions a promotional site built by Canada's embassy to Washington. Canadian Ally is presumably meant to reassure our southern neighbours we are doing, like, something. Sad that we have to go out of our way to make this point. Actions, one might observe, speak louder than websites.

Canada has deployed to Iraq.

Given the attitude of *some* Canadians in governance, this should be all you need in order to reign in those 'Murican excesses!
