Fighting Fusileers for Freedom
The Flea managed to remain neutral in the hostilities that broke out between the Alliance of Free Bloggers and the Axis of Naughty. But that was over mere links (yes, mere links... I said it). A Blog-Bash to help send television equipment to Iraq to counter fascist broadcasts means it is time to get involved.
News broadcasts in Iraq can be biased, inaccurate and incomplete - to put it mildly. Your contribution will create a television alternative owned and operated by Iraqis. This will provide better information, counter efforts to provoke and help reduce tensions.
Three teams of bloggers have stepped up to help Spirit of America in a great cause. Here is the problem: how to choose among Dean Esmay's Liberty Alliance, Michele's Coalition and the Imperial Armorer's Fighting Fusileers? No offense to Michele but the Flea has no diplomatic linkage with A Small Victory (hey, they may be mere links but they are still links). I owe so much to blogger and a gentleman Dean Esmay, not least for the very recent installation of MT-Blacklist. It seems churlish to even consider joining another fund-raising team.
Here is the thing. Castle Argghhh!!! is a second home in the blogosphere to me. And with the recent actions of some Canadian Quakers I figure the Flea should do its bit to support the MilBloggers as well as the First Marine Expeditionary Force and U.S. Army in Iraq. Bloggers everywhere: the goal is US$100,000 and the drive starts next week. Spirit of America will have donation buttons for each team at their website and, if you have donated already, information on how to retroactively dedicate your donation to the Fusileers. There is no need to wait... march over to Castle Argghhh!!! and enlist (and I am looking at you, Shotgunners!).
And then... Talks have been opened with Michele's Coalition in the comments to this post. Negotiations look promising!

But I see how it goes. I'll never forget this!
(How about if I show some skin?)

Posted by: Flea at April 17, 2004 11:01 AMHey! I thought no poaching!
(Show some skin and I suspect my desertion rate with be near-total)
No jumpers yet over Rose's Rack, so you'll have to do better than that, I'm afraid.
Which really *would* put you on the hornys of a dilemma, eh, Michele? (You still have the cooler looking website, and Lenore is perhaps even more apropo now than ever!)
