We got hate
Angua received an ignorant letter from what we might safely presume to be an ignorant person. The Flea receives comment and email expressing similar sentiments. These are an annoyance for the most part but on rare occasion stray into territory that is threatening. The former are deleted out of hand and their originating addresses blocked. The latter are referred to the originating ISP and in once instance to the police.
Most hateful stuff is irritating as much for the knowledge of some lackwit troubling the world with their off-line presence as for some gaseous comment. I often wonder where such people acquire the notion their freedom of speech obligates me to read, let alone publish, their ideas. Perhaps in this is the single most fundamental motive force of totalitarian socialist social agendas. Here are a constituency with ideas so vapid, so unconvincing they must force people to pay to hear their views rather than be ignored.
